Doula Services
What is a birth doula?
A birth doula, is a labor companion who offers emotional and physical, & informational support to pregnant and birthing parents. A doula is present during active labor, as a continuous support to help create a positive birth experience & easier transition into parenthood. Most birth doulas also meet with parents postpartum to debrief on the birth experience and make sure they are adjusting well.
What is the value of this support?
* You have a positive, uplifting, and supportive person on your birth team - someone who knows your wishes and needs beforehand
* There's familiarity in someone continuously, whereas with your provider and nurses you don't know who you will get during the birth(If planning hospital)
* Doulas help you receive the information you need to create a birth preference sheet & make important decisions about your birth
* Your chances for cesarean section are reduced with a Doula (This does not mean 100%)
* Doulas support a more easeful transition into parenthood - offering connection and care prenatally, through birth, & postpartum
* Doulas are the extra pair of hands and eyes in the birth room to step in to support you as needed, support your partner, and make sure your care and needs are being met
* You have an extra person in the room to help capture the special moments of love, support, and babies first meeting earthside
...& more, each birth is unique and has ways of unfolding and being supported as needed in each moment. Overall, a doulas support has positively affected many people transitioning into parenthood!
What to expect from doula services with Julie
*Julie is especially skilled and interested in working with those who are driven to feel grounded, safe, and trusting of their bodies within birth. She enjoys using mindfulness, yoga, and Reiki as additional supports within prenatal sessions and birth for each client she works with. Working as a team and getting partners involved is also very important!
Prenatal Support
* 2 Prenatal visits(1-3hrs), Planned around 34wks & 36wks of pregnancy(or as one at 34/36wks, for half moon package).
In the first session we go over your birth preferences, creating a digital sheet together. During the second visit, Julie will go over signs of pre-labor/active labor, birth environment, comfort techniques, items in her doula bag for support, mindfulness/breathing techniques, and holding space for anything surfacing emotionally/mentally as birth gets closer! The info we go over would be merged into one if doing the half moon package. Outside of these sessions you have 24/7 contact with Julie through text/email.
Continuous labor support
*Julie will be on call from 2 weeks before your due date, at 38weeks of pregnancy. When needed, she will join you either at your home(location dependent) or meet you at the hospital and remain with you until the birth of your baby, and stay 1-2hrs after birth, or until you are feeling cozy and ready to settle in with your baby.
Postpartum check-in/visit
* One postpartum check in/visit(1-3hrs), holding space to allow you process your birth experience as a whole and fill in any gaps, as well as making sure you, your partner(if applicable), and baby are adjusting well together. We will check in with how feeding is going, some normal things to expect after birth, and talk about postpartum mental health. If there are any issues related to feedings or mental health, references to professionals within the community will be given. A postpartum Reiki/mindfulness session is offered to aid in recovery and finalizing the birth experience if wanted.
More about Julie as part of your birth team
Hi, I'm Juile!
I trained through DONA International with Debra Pascali Bonaro of Orgasmic Birth in 2023, and I’ve been practicing since the beginning of 2024 as a doula.
I have a background in holistic wellness through Reiki, yoga teaching(also currently in prenatal yoga teacher training), bodywork, herbalism, and menstrual cycle wellness/cyclical living. I’ve always loved using knowledge & personal experience that I have to help others understand their bodies and options deeper. Becoming a doula felt like a natural next step in my journey!

As a doula, I aspire to nurture every client I work with, helping them achieve feelings of confidence, amazement, and love for what their body can accomplish! With a system that often instills fear, doubt, and nonchalance about pregnancy, birth and postpartum, I’m here to remind you of how capable your body is, what your options are, and how amazing transitioning into parenthood is! I like to think of myself as a cheerleader.

My support in prenatal sessions often involves an acknowledgement and focus on mental/emotional feelings surfacing, positive affirmations, tuning into the bodily/primal wisdom that comes with labor, additional supports like Reiki or Yoga, and of course evidence-based, relevant information for making informed decisions about your birth!
In the birth space, my support naturally unfolds in its own unique way each time, but I'm always deeply passionate about hands-on support, speaking affirmations and loving reminders, creating teamwork with partners, and aiding in position changes through the journey of labor. I'm deeply honored to be part of every birth experience I get the chance to attend!

Outside of the doula world, I’m an avid seeker of knowledge, creativity, connection, and fun! Being with loved ones, and laughter are some of my favorite pastimes!
